Glowstick Valentines

We made Clare's valentines for her class this year.  They were so easy to make and turned out really cute!  Clare is very happy with them, too.

Up close...

I decided to do the picture vertically to try to prevent the glow sticks from snapping and "activating."

You can go to picnik.com to add text to a picture (for free...and right now they have FREE access to all of their premium designs).  I had a 60% off coupon for prints from Walgreens.  Then I grabbed 2 packs of glow sticks from the Target dollar aisle.  We cut a slit on the top and bottom of her hand in the picture and slid a glow stick in.

Total price for her Valentines with treats was under $4.

And here are all the funny outtakes.  Maybe I'm bias...but she's too cute.  :)

(PS - I'm happy to be handing out a non-candy treat because if people are like us, they still have candy canes in their pantries!)

Linking with these parties.

  1. Ha, we just threw out Halloween candy a month ago. It just got lost and forgotten in the pantry. Happens every year.

Cute Valentines! (love the outtakes) My daughter is doing a similar thing with friendship bracelets instead of glow sticks.

BTW- Have you found an alternative to picnik yet? Please let me know if you do. You can email me through my profile or leave a comment on my blog. I've heard that there's not one that can truly replace it.

  4. Really good idea! Considering the "no candy" rule at our elementary school, this would make a perfect valentine present instead for classmates!

  11. Love it! I've seen ones where they hold out a sucker, but I like this better and I agree they get enough candy, so handing out something non candy is a great idea! I found you via the Someday Crafts Link Party.
