"Long Curtains"

Clare comes into our room every time it storms at night.  She has told me for some time that she'll be able to sleep better in storms if she had long curtains in her bedroom.  I had been meaning to make drapes for her room since we moved in and Clare was so excited that I finally came through on my promise.

Our other house did not have full length windows, so I was just using these from those windows...

Not quite cutting it for Clare!

I saw this post by Allison on making your own lined curtain panels and got to work!

I am really loving the new curtains!  And Clare is pleased, too...a thunderstorm will test just how much she likes them!
Now I just need to find finials that match the rest of the room.

Here's what her room looked like when we moved in 2 years ago...
(*Warning* the colors were a bit bright!)

And here's what it looks like today...

My mom and I painted the diamonds on the wall.
PS - I hung the old curtains in Clare's closet.  Perfect for the smaller window!

  1. Love the colors of the room now--so soft and sweet. You did a great job on the diamond painting! Seeing the American girl doll reminds me of when my girls were little.
