Jude's preschool hosted a "Journey to Bethlehem" event over the weekend. The kids were very excited about taking part in this activity!
There were lots of little "shops" set up in the city of Bethlehem and craft stations in each "store." Clare and Jude really enjoyed all of the hands on activities!
We made potpourri bags in the spice shop and made wind chimes in the music store.
And created mosaics in the tile shop.
Sampled bread and cheese in the market place while seeing all of the foods that were common in Jesus' time.
Clare really liked giving (fake) coins to the town beggers.
(Later she told me she would be happy to volunteer to be a begger if they need help for next year...)
There were lots of animals to see that would have been in the stable on Christmas Day.
Clare brushing the goats.
Jude thought the llama was pretty funny.
Ellen enjoyed petting the animals using one finger and then enjoyed running around...
Clare feeding the baby camel.
This was a fun way to learn hands-on all about Jesus' birthplace!
Hope you had a fun weekend, too!
what a cool event! last year we had something similar here for Hanukkah, it was a "town" set up like in the times of Hanukkah. I think the kids get a lot out of events like that!
